Jonathan Freund

Jonathan Freund worked in theater and film production, in New York and Los Angeles, for the first half of his professional life. He then developed or directed numerous Israel education and interreligious initiatives at the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles and the Board of Rabbis, including The Holy Land Democracy Project, and the "One People, One Book" literary program and sourcebooks on S.Y. Agnon, Dara Horn, Geraldine Brooks, and Jewish Poets. As an educator and consultant on Jewish culture, antisemitism, the Holocaust, and interfaith leadership, he works with Jewish and non-Jewish students and groups at Claremont School of Theology, Columbia Theological Seminary, Los Angeles City College, and synagogues, high schools and youth groups. He recently wrote Widen the Lens, a learning and discussion guide for the Holocaust drama Here There Are Blueberries. Jonathan has a B.A. in Theatre Directing from Oberlin College and an M.A.Ed from American Jewish University. jgfreund.com
