theatre dybbuk's tefillah

premiered June 22, 2014 and toured to sacred spaces throughout Los Angeles over the summer

Originally performed at Valley Beth Shalom, Congregation Kol Ami, The Church of Our Saviour, the Pico Union Project, and University Synagogue, June–September, 2014.

 

tefillah is a thrilling collision of ritual movement and mystical exploration. This piece dramatizes the vivid theatricality and moving humanity inherent in prayer, exposing the complex nature of Jewish worship services by investigating their legacies and structures in physical and poetic ways.
