theatre dybbuk receives $200,000 Cutting Edge Grant from The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles

We are excited and honored to announce that we have been awarded a Cutting Edge Grant from The Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles (The Foundation). We are one of nine local Jewish initiatives to receive this prestigious grant established by The Foundation in 2006 to enable creative thinkers, social entrepreneurs, and innovative organizations to develop and implement transformative programs of high visibility and impact in the Los Angeles Jewish community.

With this $200,000, three-year grant, we expect to engage thousands of young adults, while also reaching teens, adults, and families in the Los Angeles Jewish community.  We will collaborate with educational and communal organizations to more actively utilize arts and theatrical techniques to engage the next generation in Jewish life.

Artistic Director Aaron Henne says, "With the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles' generous support, we are looking forward to bringing innovative Jewish theatrical arts and education programs to people throughout Los Angeles. We are especially grateful to now have the ability to create a meaningful infrastructure, which will allow us to collaborate with a wide variety of theaters, art centers, synagogues, community programs and many others to illuminate the universal human experience through Jewish history, folklore and rituals."

Foundation President and CEO Marvin I. Schotland stated: “Since its inception a decade ago, the Cutting Edge Grants program has awarded more than $13 million to 72 worthy initiatives, which serve a diverse range of our Los Angeles Jewish community. That so many of these programs continue to transform our community today is a testament to their long-term impact and vision.  We congratulate not only this year’s Cutting Edge Grant recipients, but also celebrate the social entrepreneurs and innovative organizations of the past 10 years and our Foundation’s catalytic role.”
